![]() ![]() ![]() The change will take effect immediately right after you click OK button. Choose “ Prompt for action” if you are not sure which one to pick. In Virtual PC Settings Window, pick Close from the left side panel, and choose the proper action at the right side panel. if you haven’t configure the action for closing, it’s time to do so. What if nothing happens after click Ctrl+Alt+Del?įirst, try the Restart comment under Action from the top toolbar, which will force a restart process to the virtual machine. Note that, you will need to unlock the desktop in order to proceed. ![]() The system then will go through the shutdown sequence, and the resource will be released from the virtual machine. Or you can simply press the shortcut key Ctrl+Alt+End.Īnd then in the window that appears, click Shut down. To shut down from an running virtual machine, click Ctrl+Alt+Del from the toolbar of the virtual machine window. If I then rty to open it again, the window opens but with "Shutting down" showing and none of the VM menus work: shut down and restart both say "Cannot shut down this virtual machine" tools / integration features runs but says it cannot start integration Ĭtrl+Alt+Del does nothing at all. Here what we are going to discuss is based on the version of Virtual PC that is later than 2007, as it’s a lot difference from any previous versions. I found I can hibernate it by using CTRL-ALT-DEL on the host and doing "End task" on the dodgy VPC, but it still says "Running" in the Virtual Machines folder and it will not let me delete the. Due to memory restirctions, I can only run 2 VPCs at a time I have 6 VPCs on my "host" PC and 5 of them are working normally but one has gone into shut down mode but will not shut down. I am having the same problem but your solution does not swork for me. Any help or comparing of notes would be appreciated. Interestingly, I have not been able to find many people on the net that are having this problem. I need to be able to shut down completely for a clean reboot so that the updates and other things can refresh. I am able to get the Win XP mode to go into hybernation however, but that's it. I also tried the option of Disabling Integration Features from the menu bar and still it will not allow me to shut down the Virtual window. I also tried the uninstall each item, and a window keeps popping up telling me that I need to restart window, which I agree, of course, but Win Xp still will not shut down or restart. I tried that too, but no appropriate files could be found for any of the 5 entries. I looked up another related Technet article that said to right click on each question mark and try to update drivers from the Program Files/Virtual PC folder. After doing some research I decided to look in the Device Manager and I found yellow question marks next to 5 different "Virtual PC Integration Devices", indicating a possible problem. I did a Windows update and it prompted me with the usual "do want to shut down now or later" message and I naturally selected shut down there too, but system still will not shut down. I click it and it looks like it moves but nothing else happens. Ctrl-Alt-Del (on menu bar)doesn't work either. I have gone to TechNet and read all about the common advice of just changing the shutdown options from "hybernate" to either close or shutdown, and I have tried those and none of them actually allow me to shut down the virtual window and Win XP. The problem is that the Win XP in the virtual window will NOT shut down. I am having a problem with my Virtual PC (Win XP) in Win 7. ![]()
